What does a typical session look like?
The session is very relaxed. I'll take a few minutes to say hi to everyone and explain why I'm here to the little kids. To start with I like to get moving. It helps relax everyone a little and gets out any nervous energy. After a few mins of shooting you walking and talking, we'll find a spot to gather for some group shots. I'll capture a few looking-at-camera shots, and encourage you to chat with each other, have some hugs and maybe a tickle of the little ones! I like to read each family and keep the sessions very flexible, to adjust to any individual or family needs. The best feedback that I get is "we thought the kids were being too silly so there'd be no good images, but you captured so many beautiful moments and captured their personalities perfectly!" So relax, just be yourselves and the resulting images will be absolute gems to look back on for the rest of your lives!
What is documentary photography?
Documentary is visual storytelling. The session is very relaxed and super friendly, which will help you feel comfortable, and works really well with young big-siblings! Resulting in images that reflect actual moments in time & memories.
When should I book my photography session?
I do most of my family photography sessions on Fridays and Saturday lunchtimes. Melbourne weather can be changeable so sessions may need to be rescheduled in rain or high winds.
Where will the photoshoot take place?
Choose a location that's special to you! Don't forget if it's the beach it might be hard to keep smaller kids from wanting to jump right in! I LOVE capturing kids in the water, so it's good to bring along some toys to keep the little ones entertained on the sand for the first section of the shoot.
Can I book a weekend?
Yes, I work Saturdays. But these get booked up soonest. Please contact Bella for availability.
What shall we wear?
My advice is to wear whatever you love to see yourself in, what you feel good and comfortable in! For babies and children, something comfortable that allows them to move freely is so important, and secondly, just choose your favourite outfit for them! You can coordinate if you like, but that's not essential. The only things I'd avoid for everyone is very strong colours like bright pink, and lots of different clashing strong patterns. Black can work if used sparingly. One or two patterns across the family is fine, especially geometric patterns on kids.
For those who love to coordinate, if your session is going to be outdoors a colour palate of blues, whites and soft blue-greens and/or beige is beautiful, introducing a floral pattern, or geometric pattern here or there. Oranges, sage greens and white also work beautifully.
When can I view the images?
Your private gallery will be online within 2 weeks of your session. When you purchase a package with digital images, you will be sent a link to download your images immediately.
How & when do we pay?
There is a $100 deposit to book your session time. The $100 is deducted from the price of your package at time of purchase. The prices on my 'PACKAGES' page includes the deposit amount, and so is the total amount that you will pay.
What if we need to reschedule?
I'm more than happy to accomodate rescheduling for any reason, I just ask that you give me as much notice as you can. If your session is outdoors I will always reschedule in bad weather, including high winds!
When will I receive my order?
Digital images are available for download immediately after purchace. You will be sent an email with a link to download your images onto your laptop or computer.
Fine Art Prints are printed at our expert lab in QLD, on beautiful paper using archival inks to last over 100 years. These take 10-15 working days to get to you.
Our beautiful layflat Photobooks are printed on Matt photographic paper, boasting outstanding image quality and vibrant colours, with a smooth matt finish. Photobooks take approx 4 weeks for delivery.
Will my photos & identity be private?
Yes. I'll always ask your permission to use your photos in my marketing material / social media. I'll only use your first name in testimonials.
Are you vaccinated?
Yes. I am fully vaccinated and have had my booster. I am up to date with my Whooping Cough and Influenza Vaccines.

Privacy Policy
In order to be able to provide you with a fast and streamlined service, I ask for information such as your email address, and contact phone number in the registration process. All of the information provided is stored securely, and never shared with anyone outside of Bella Jordan Photography. If you decide not to go ahead with your photoshoot I delete your data.
